Based in Tokyo, Canadian artist Juniper Wang has built a multidisciplinary practice spanning tattooing, painting and illustration, informed by the rich artistic traditions of her Chinese and Japanese heritage.
Specialising in tattoos inspired by nature, Juniper's work is known for its delicate linework, layered detail, and painterly approach to design. Birds, flowers, insects, and wildlife frequently appear throughout her portfolio, reflecting a deep appreciation for the natural world and the symbolic stories it carries. Each piece is carefully designed to complement the body, treating skin not simply as a surface, but as a living canvas.
Juniper is the creator of Neo-Sumi, an artistic philosophy she coined to describe the evolution of traditional Asian aesthetics through contemporary form. Not imitation, but inheritance. Grace, harmony, nuance and a profound attunement to nature, expressed through modern subjects and practice.
