Queens of Song, Meg Kiddle, vocals and Melissa Buchholz, piano, is a polished show filled with epic hits, nostalgia and stories of a lifelong friendship forged through a love of music. With two carefully curated set lists compiled from artists who are no longer with us, you can tell the songs have a deep and personal meaning and connection to these performers.
This is slick show; part personal storytelling, part education, but most importantly this is pure entertainment. Meg and Mel all are accomplished artists in their own right, but together they are a powerhouse. The show is supported by a multimedia display of archival footage which enhances the visual storytelling.
The show is episodic, working its way through a back catalogue from iconic artists. We learn about hits the artists had written and performed and some surprising pieces of trivia. With songs from the 60s to the 80s, the audience all found songs they connected with, and in many cases joined in, which was encouraged. You become aware the songs are not just a convenient choice, but milestones and hooks to memories not just for themselves but for the audience as well.
